Audiout
A developer in Germany wanted Spotify and browser audio on every speaker in the house, not just Apple's own apps. Audiout does that, with a fader per room.
Made by Maker details to confirm.
Why it was made
Every room, not just Apple's own apps
On a Mac, only Apple's Music and TV apps can play to several AirPlay speakers at once. Audiout takes whatever else is playing (Spotify, a browser, a game) and sends it to every AirPlay, Bluetooth and Chromecast speaker together, keeping them on the same clock. It sits in the menu bar with a fader per room, app-by-app routing, saved speaker scenes and EQ under a single Main Audio ceiling. A companion iPhone remote, which uses the phone's microphone to measure how far behind a Bluetooth speaker plays, is listed as coming soon.
It is not a streaming service or a cloud product: audio travels from the Mac to the speakers over Wi-Fi and keeps playing without internet. It installs nothing into macOS (no drivers, no kernel extensions) and excluded apps are never captured. Routing a single app alone needs AirPlay or Bluetooth rather than Chromecast, and it requires an Apple Silicon Mac on macOS 14.4 or later.
